Player Farming System comes with some optimization settings for the grow effect. These settings enable and disable the grow effect depending on the plants distance to a player. For more info on the grow effect check out the guide linked below.
You can find the Optimization Settings in the plant blueprint like for example the BP_TomatoPlant then select the BP_PlantComponent and in the details panel in the Plant Settings category find the Optimization category in that category is the Optimization Settings like shown in the image below.

If the player is within the Growth Effect Distance (This value is in CM) of the plant the growth effect will play, if not the growth effect will not run to save performance, this can be helpful in levels with many plants. This effect runs client side, so plants will only play the grow effect for plants they are near.
When the plant comes back within the Growth Effect Distance the plant will play the growth effect faster until they reach the correct size then will continue to grow at their standard growth speed. If the plant is fully grown while outside the Growth Effect Distance the plants scale will be set to its full size even when outside the Growth Effect Distance.
To disable this system untick the Use Growth Effect Optimization setting.
To disable this system on the dedicated server untick the Use Dedicated Server Effect Optimization setting.
These settings can be changed per plant, or to change the default values for all plants change the setting in the BP_PlantComponent.
