AI Bases allow you to control how far the AI can navigate from the AI base location. This can be helpful if you want AI to stay within a certain area and not wounder away from that location during game play.

You can find the BP_MasterAIBase blueprint in the control browser and drag it into your level to use it.

Next select your AI character in the level (this will only work if you select your AI once its placed in the level, for AI spawned by a spawner there is more info in the section below) then select the BP_AIComponent in the Details panel and search for base. You can then use the Eye drop tool next to the AI Base setting to select the AI base you added to your level.

You can then set the AI Base Distance, this is how far the AI is allowed to travel away from its base, there is also a separate Flee Base Distance this controls how far the AI is allowed to travel away from its base if it is in the Flee behavior.

Spawner Base Settings

For AI Spawner blueprint you may also want to set an AI base for the AI it spawns. To do this you will need a BP_MasterAIBase in your level at the location you want. Then select the spawner blueprint in your level, then in the Details panel search for Base and select the Eye Drop tool next to the AIBase setting and select your AI Base.

Now when the spawner spawns in AI their base will be set to this AI Base and they will only be allow to move within their AI Base Distance around the AI Base you set.
